AirAsia Cuts Long-Haul Fares and Adds Bahrain and London Routes
AirAsia Group has announced a combination of fare reductions and new route launches that will increase low-cost access to Kuala Lumpur from Europe and the Middle East. The headline additions are new direct services from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Bahrain (BAH) and an expanded Kuala Lumpur to London offering under the AirAsia X banner.
New Routes at a Glance
The Kuala Lumpur–Bahrain route opens a direct low-cost connection between Malaysia and the Gulf, previously only served by full-service carriers via multiple hubs. For travellers moving between the Gulf states and Southeast Asia, this adds a direct option that removes the need to transit through the Middle East with a legacy airline.
The Kuala Lumpur–London expansion follows continued strong demand on the route, with AirAsia X adding frequencies to its existing London Gatwick (LGW) service. Fares on promotional sale are among the lowest available on the UK–Malaysia corridor.
Fare Reductions on Existing Routes
Alongside the route announcements, AirAsia has cut base fares on several existing long-haul routes from Kuala Lumpur, including connections to Australia, Japan, and South Korea. The fare reductions are promotional and seat-limited - travellers who have been considering a trip to Malaysia or onward connections from Kuala Lumpur should check current fares directly on the AirAsia website.
What This Means for Visitors
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is the primary entry point for most international visitors to Malaysia, and increased competition on long-haul routes generally keeps prices accessible. AirAsia X operates from KLIA Terminal 2 (klia2), which is connected to the main terminal by the free KLIA Transit rail link.
